He is a graduate from Duke University at both Masters and Doctoral levels. His peer-reviewed articles have appeared in such professional journals as Social Science Research, Sociological Perspective, Research on Aging, Journal of Gerontology, Demography, and is a chapter author in the International Handbook of the Demography of Aging (forthcoming- Springer), and encyclopedia entry author in Encyclopedia of Research Design (forthcoming-Sage), and Encyclopedia of Health and Aging (2007-Sage).
